A great day today visiting a few properties in the Aberdeenshire area. Up first, Castle Fraser, the start line to “Ride the North” bike race as I soon discovered! After the cyclists had departed I did get a good look around this fascinating property and enjoyed the chance to walk up to the tops of the towers. The castle also had beautiful grounds and the walled garden was particularly lovely to wander through.
Next, I headed to Leith Hall where I was treated to guided tour (the only way you were allowed to go around – mainly to stop people taking photos!). The house itself had some interesting parts but the garden were phenomenal. The moon arch and rock gardens were incredible.
Finally I headed to Huntly Castle, a fascinating set of ruins stood majestically over the meeting point of two rivers. It was great to look around and explore before heading into the town to the home of Rizza’s ice cream (I had black cherry and lemon cheesecake).
Now for an early night in preparation of the race tomorrow.
